Katakana Playground

Here I will be using phonetic English script in combination with Katakana to teach myself and others this Japanese Syllibary. Here we go!

Upper English

This is a new spelling system I have come up with that allows you to type with just one letter per sound, and one sound per letter. Spelling errors are a thing of the past. The reason I like this is because it allows phonemic notation of the sounds we actually say without much effort. We can now type all the sounds of English using one letter for each sound, and one sound for each letter. You no longer need a special keyboard with mysterious IPA symbols. All you need is your regular QWERTY keyboard, and the insight that came to me one night that if you reassign upper case letters different sounds, you can write all the sounds of English phonemically. Here is a sample from the Bible taken from Romans 5. {5:1} TARfOR bEiG justifId bI fAH, wE hav pEs wiH god HrU WR lOrd jEzqs krIst: {5:2} bI hUm olsO wE hav akses bI fAH intU Tis grAs weRin wE stVnd, Vnd rEjYs in hOp uv Tq glOrE uv god. {5:3} Vnd not OnlE [sO,] but wE glOrE in tribyUlACqnz olsO: nOiG Tat tribyUlACqn wRkqH pACqns; {5:4...

This writing system was created by James Kingsley Read in the 1960's, after receiving money from the will of George Bernard Shaw after his passing. It was completed on the 18th of August, 1960. The basic design was to use only one letter for each sound of English and only one sound for each letter. This makes spelling very intuitive and simple. All English spelling rules become obsolete. You can simply write the same sounds that you speak. Here is a sample text from the Bible, taken from Romans chapter 5. {5:1} 𐑞𐑺𐑓𐑹 𐑚𐑰𐑦𐑙 𐑡𐑳𐑕𐑑𐑦𐑓𐑲𐑛 𐑚𐑲 𐑓𐑱𐑔, 𐑢𐑰 𐑣𐑨𐑝 𐑐𐑰𐑕 𐑢𐑦𐑞 ·𐑜𐑭𐑛 𐑔𐑮𐑵 𐑬𐑼 ·𐑤𐑹𐑛 ·𐑡𐑰𐑟𐑩𐑕 ·𐑒𐑮𐑲𐑕𐑑: {5:2} 𐑚𐑲 𐑣𐑵𐑥 𐑭𐑤𐑕𐑴 𐑢𐑰 𐑣𐑨𐑝 𐑨𐑒𐑕𐑧𐑕 𐑚𐑲 𐑓𐑱𐑔 𐑦𐑯𐑑𐑵 𐑞𐑦𐑕 𐑜𐑮𐑱𐑕 𐑢𐑺𐑦𐑯 𐑢𐑰 𐑕𐑑𐑨𐑯𐑛, 𐑯 𐑮𐑦𐑡𐑶𐑕 𐑦𐑯 𐑣𐑴𐑐 𐑝 𐑞 𐑜𐑤𐑹𐑰 𐑝 ·𐑜𐑭𐑛. {5:3} 𐑯 𐑯𐑭𐑑 𐑴𐑯𐑤𐑰 [𐑕𐑴,] 𐑚𐑳𐑑 𐑢𐑰 𐑜𐑤𐑹𐑰 𐑦𐑯 𐑑𐑮𐑦𐑚𐑿𐑤𐑱𐑖𐑩𐑯𐑟 𐑭𐑤𐑕𐑴: 𐑯𐑴𐑦𐑙 𐑞𐑨𐑑 𐑑𐑮𐑦𐑚𐑿𐑤𐑱𐑖𐑩𐑯 𐑢𐑻𐑒𐑩𐑔 𐑐𐑱𐑖𐑩𐑯𐑕; {5:4} 𐑯 𐑐𐑱𐑖𐑩𐑯𐑕, 𐑦𐑒𐑕𐑐...

Unifon

This writing system was made by John Malone in the 1950's while working for Bendix Corporation. He planned for it to be used for the world's airlines as their standard writing system. When this fell through, his alphabet turned out to be useful for teaching elementary school children to read. It can also be used as a pronunciation key in English dictionaries. Here is  Romans 5 written in Unifon. It is in the King James Version .  Here is the Unifon Key below.

Hiragana Playground

Here I am using English to teach myself Hiragana. All sounds in English which can be made with Hiragana will be written using this writing system. Here we go! Ezekiel 10:10-11 Aんd as for their aぴraんces, they four had one likeねss, as if a うぃl had been in the midst of a うぃl. うぇん they うぇんt, they うぇんt uぱn their four sides; they turned なt as they うぇんt, but つ the place whither the へd looked they followed it; they turんed なt as they うぇんt. And as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel. When they went, they went upon their four sides; they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went. What did you all think? Since most of the sounds of English are not covered by hiragana, it is still pretty readable, is it not?

New Latin

Have you ever wanted to have a simple system to write English with, but could not? New Latin is here! This writing system allows you to phonetically write all the sounds of English in a bidirectional, symmetrical format. Not only can you write left to right, right to left like Arabic or Hebrew, or as the ox plows, also called boustrophedon, but everything you write with my special keyboard layout is automatically written as stoicon, which means every character is perfectly lined up with all the ones above and below, including spaces and punctuation. Below you will find a pronunciation key and Romans Chapter 5 written in this script. You will find both of these as a downloadable pdf and a png. Enjoy!     Pronunciation Key Download And as png.   Romans Chapter 5   As pdf.   As png. Romans 1 piece as boustrophedon.   Romans 1 through part of 5.
